Marilyn Joyce Funk

FUNK, Marilyn Joyce (maiden ADKINS), 77, of Saint Louis, Missouri, formerly of Norman, Oklahoma, beloved sister, mother, grandmother, cousin and friend, passed away October 1, 2018, in Saint Louis, Missouri. She was born September 21, 1941, in Norman, Oklahoma, to Benjamin F. Adkins and Iryl E. Adkins. Marilyn graduated from Norman High School in 1958, received her B.S. in Education in 1964, and her M.A. in Business Education in 1983 from the University of OKlahoma. Worked at Technical Training Center in Norman, OK for the United States Postal Service from 1978 to 1980, and then in various positions in the Human Resources Department for the Oklahoma City area from 1985 until her retirement in 2003. Participated as both member and officer (including President) of the Oklahoma City Chapter of Sweet Adelines starting in 1975 and also served on Regional Board, including as Regent, for Region 10 (initially) and later the newly formed Region 25 (Heart of America Region) before retiring and becoming an associate member in 2009. She traveled widely and happily before and after retirement, including to England, Ireland, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, China, Australia and New Zealand. Marilyn is survived by her two children, Benjamin and Christopher; her brother, Lain and wife Holly; her grandchildren Miriam, Joanna, and Charlotte; one aunt, Laura Thompson, as well as numerous nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 13, at 1PM at Havenbrook Funeral Home, Norman.
