October 22, 1950 ~ January 21, 2024 (age 73) 73 Years Old
Marin Cebalo of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away on January 21, 2024 at the age of 73, following a brief illness. He was born on October 22, 1950, in Hoboken, New Jersey, to happy parents, Nicholas Joseph Cebalo and Jennie De Vita.
Marin was an avid learner and appreciated education at all levels, which inspired his final employment as a substitute teacher. He enjoyed students and being a student! Not only did he strive for success in every aspect of his life, he encouraged the best in everyone else. He proudly received his Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Oklahoma in 1998.
He was a patriot through and through, and deeply respected all branches of military service. He himself was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving twenty years as a jet engine mechanic. In 1974, while stationed in Thailand, he set his eyes on the love of his life, Jan. They soon married and began a life together stateside. In April, they would have celebrated 49 years of love and life together.
Marin was a faithful husband, father and friend to many. To know Marin, was to know his unwavering devotion to Jesus. He never shied away from sharing the Good News to any person he encountered. He was eager to impart knowledge–from God to history, politics to food–to anyone and everyone he could.
Marin enriched every life he came across with his humor and charisma. He loved people and life. He will be remembered as a one-of-a-kind thinker, imaginative creator and vibrant storyteller.
Marin was preceded in death by both parents; and son-in-law, Michael Flemig, II.
He will be missed and survived by wife Jan of the home; daughters, Janna Cebalo and Catherine Flemig; son, Nicholas Cebalo, all of Norman; brother Robert Cebalo and wife Janeth of New Jersey; sisters, Wanda DeMauro and Toni Ann Kiernan and husband Brian of New Jersey; nieces, Kristin DeMauro and McKenzie Kiernan of New Jersey; nephews, Mathew and Michael Cebalo, Alex DeMauro and Eric Kiernan of New Jersey; cousin, Joseph Natalicchio and wife Nancy of New Jersey; and numerous friends and acquaintances.
