Marjorie Cannon, age 95, of Norman, passed away on February 9, 2021. She was born on October 13, 1925, in Ada, Oklahoma, to Luther and Bonnie Lewis. She was united in marriage to Laurence Cannon on September 4, 1949, at All Saints Episcopal Church, McAlester, Oklahoma.
Marjorie attended Halleyville High School and graduated in 1944. She was employed by the McAlester News-Capital for 7 ½ years and later moved to Norman, where she worked at the Norman Transcript for 28 years as the Classified Ad Manager. She retired in July of 1993.
Marjorie was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church since 1955, and served as a greeter and as a delegate to convention. She was also a member of the Daughters of the King and served as its president for 2 years. After retirement, she volunteered in the church office for over 10 years.
She was a charter member of the Norman Hi-Noon Business and Professional Women Association and was named Woman of the Year in 1982. She also served as Vice President and Treasurer and was on several committees. She attended national conventions in San Antonio and Hawaii.
Survivors include son, Patrick of Tampa, Florida; son-in-law, Clark Storms and companion Jessica Garrett of Richardson, Texas; grandson, Jonathan Storms and wife Katie of Farmers Branch, Texas; grandson, Jeffrey Storms and wife Rebecca of Austin, Texas; brother, Bob Lewis and wife Norma of Castle Rock, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; longtime companion, Jim Pratt; brother, L.E. Lewis; and daughter, Deborah Ann Cannon Storms.
