Marvin Gene Orr, 82, of Norman, OK, peacefully passed away at his home on May 15, 2021. Marvin was born on October 30, 1938, in Iowa City, Iowa, to his parents, Kenneth and Doris Orr.
Marvin served in the U.S. Air Force from September 1956 to October 1958, Airman 3rd class. Marvin had many odd jobs from filling gas stations, Griffin Memorial Hospital at the milk barns to driving a Yellow Cab for a while where he would meet his future wife. He started his “Career” with Sodexho on January 1, 1969, working with Norman Public Schools for 39 years. He did multiple kinds of jobs for the school system like driving trucks, delivering meals from the old days “the central kitchen” and worked his way up to Warehouse Manager.
Marvin was a simple, frugal, man who worked all his life. He loved fishing, & going to OU football games with his dad. He retired three different times. When he would be off summers, he would pick a big project to work on. His favorite pastime was woodworking, including cabinets, shadow boxes, toy trucks, furniture among other things.
Marvin was preceded by his wife, Lois Mae Orr of almost 52 years; and his parents, Kenneth & Doris Orr. He is survived by his brother, Keith Orr and his wife Carolyn of Alamogordo, New Mexico; sister, Patricia Teeter and her husband Gary of Yuma, Arizona; niece, Leanna Orr of Berea, Ohio; niece, Alyssa Cordes and her husband Jeremy of Elyria, Ohio; sister-in-law, Joyce Huggins of Corning, Arkansas; nephew, David Heaton and his wife Corley of Norman, OK; niece, Diana Crawford and her husband Lawrence of Houston, Texas; great nephews, Matthew and Brendon Cox of Norman, OK; and great niece, Tabitha Heaton of Norman, OK.
