Mary Ann Newcomer passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 6, 2017. She was born in Hobart, Oklahoma on May 31, 1941 and was a graduate of Hobart High School as well as the University of Oklahoma. She worked as an Administrative Coordinator at the University of Oklahoma until her retirement in the early 80’s. Diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at a young age, she felt pain and stiffness most days; however, she faced these difficulties with incredible strength and grace. Possessing an inner resolve that was matched only by her positive and encouraging outlook, she remained fiercely independent throughout her life. She lived on her terms and blessed all those around her with her sense of humor and love of people. She enjoyed traveling, crosswords and spending time with her family, particularly her grandniece Jenna. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Rachel and Ben Newcomer, as well as her brother, Ben Newcomer. She is survived by her nephew, Mark Newcomer, his wife and three sons, Kelley, William, Sammy, and Joseph, along with, her niece, Erin Newcomer, and Erin’s daughter, Jenna.
A memorial service will be held at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 2pm.
