Mary Sancak, age 15, of Norman peacefully passed away Friday, February 3rd, 2017. Mary suffered from Alagille Syndrome, a rare genetic disease. She was a strong fighter her whole life. She was born August 12, 2001 in Norman, Oklahoma to Yilmaz Sancak and Hitomi Hori Sancak.

Mary was in the 8th grade at Alcott Middle School. She was very well known due to her vibrant personality. No matter how she was feeling, Mary always looked forward to riding the bus every morning and spending the day at her favorite school.

Mary brightened the world with her smile and her giggles were always contagious. She loved making friends with anyone she saw, particularly four legged friends. She was creative and artistic. She was always eager to help her mother cook. She loved singing and was previously a member of the Norman Children’s Choir and in the choir at Alcott.

Mary is survived by her parents; Yilmaz and Hitomi Sancak and sister, Sara Sancak. She also leaves behind numerous loving friends and relatives.

Visitation for Mary will be from 8:00am – 8:00 pm, Wednesday, 2017 at the Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman. Celebration of Mary’s Life will begin 2:00pm, Thursday, February 9th, 2017 at the Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Dr. George Richter-Addo, 3401 Havenbrook Street in Norman. Mary’s family requests that all attendees wear bright colors in honor of her bright and cheerful heart.
