Michael Joseph Skrzypczynski, 68, of Norman, unexpectedly passed from this life April 10, 2019. He was born March 14, 1951 in Binghamton, NY to Joseph and Martha Skrepcinski. Michael attended Windsor High School and went on to obtain an associate’s degree in arts from Broome Community College.
During the year 1994, Michael worked as a photographer and found himself doing a shoot for a 50th wedding anniversary. His loving wife, Basn, had no idea that her parent’s 50th wedding anniversary would lead her to meeting her future husband and soulmate. Basn and Michael married June 29, 2001 and made Norman their home.
In his free time, Michael enjoyed sci-fi and he was thrilled to find out that Basn also loved sci-fi when they first met. He was also an avid fan of the New York Yankees and New York Giants. Another favorite hobby of his was woodworking. He became quite a craftsman in more recent years and loved building things for his home and family. In addition, he was a wine connoisseur and enjoyed learning all that he could about red wine and taking his family to wine tastings. He always knew which wine paired perfectly with any food item.
Michael was a member of St. Thomas More University Parish in Norman. He was a strong advocate for community outreach and actively participated in BNI, Habitat for Humanity, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Knights of Columbus, and served on the board at Friends Federal Credit Union.
Michael stood and fought for what he believed in, especially when it came to politics. He was always ready to debate his friends and family on issues he felt strongly about. A man loved by all who knew him, Michael’s legacy will continue forever. A quintessential punster; a one-liner jokester; a faithful husband and friend who never failed to make his family smile.
He was preceded in passing by his parents.
Survivors include his loving wife, Basn Fudala-Taylor; sisters-in-law, Bozenna Jones and Eva Tedeschi and husband John; nephews, Robert Jones and wife Myranda and Joseph Tedeschi; great-nephews, Jerry and Jon Jones; and a cousin, Jimmy Skrepsinski, who was more like a brother to Michael. He is also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
Viewing for Michael will be 2:00pm to 7:00pm, Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Havenbrook Funeral Home. A rosary service will begin at 7:00pm, immediately following visitation.
