Philip Klaver III

Tribute

Phil Klaver passed into heaven Tuesday, August 27 to spend the rest of eternity with his wife Ginger. Philip Klaver III was born October I, 1931 in Webster City, Iowa to Philip Klaver Jr. and Naomi Kathryn (Johnson) Klaver.

Phil graduated from Iowa State in December 1953 with a BS degree in Ag. Economics. Phil and Ginger were married June 15, 1952. Ginger was a long distant telephone operator for Northern Bell Telephone while he was going to school.

After graduation they moved to Des Moines and lived there for 9 years where he worked for O’Dea Finance Company and Maytag. In the fall of 1964, the family moved to Norman, Oklahoma. Phil worked at Floyd’s RVs for over 17 years and retired. In 1995, he went back to work at Southwest Airlines where he was part of the first group to be hired for the new Call Center in Oklahoma City.

Phil was an accomplished story teller, able to change the tone of his voice and add mannerisms to give each joke great details.

Phil was preceded in death by his wife; Ginger, daughter; Gayle, and his parents; Philip
Klaver Jr. and Naomi Klaver.

He is survived by his brother, Robert Klaver, Payson, AZ, son Mark and Leta Klaver, Scotts Valley, CA, daughter Kristen and Mike Byers, Norman, OK, daughter Lisa and Chris Hamilton, Norman, OK, grandson Clay and Gail Long, St. Johns FL, grandson Ryan Klaver, Los Angeles, CA, grandson Brendan Klaver, Santa Cruz, CA, granddaughter, Shanann and Miles Monaghan, San Francisco, CA, grandson Michael Byers, Moore, OK, granddaughter, Brooke Hamilton, Oklahoma City, OK, and granddaughter Heather Hamilton, Nashville, TN, step grandsons Chris and Juliet Byers, Ada, OK and Andy and Lizabeth Byers, Colorado Springs, CO, great grandsons, Cole and Reid Long of St. Johns, FL, Kieran Monaghan, San Francisco, CA., Arthur Byers, Colorado Springs, CO, and great granddaughter Hannah Byers, Ada OK.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity or to St. Jude’s Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at Havenbrook Funeral Home, Norman, OK on Wednesday, September 4 at 2:00pm with interment to follow at the Norman IOOF Cemetery.
