Ramona Lee Uhlenhake

January 27, 1929 ~ April 22, 2022 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Tribute

Ramona Lee Uhlenhake was born on January, 27th 1929 to John and Linda Garms. She grew
up on a farm in Loyal, Oklahoma with her four sisters Marcella, Eileen, Marie, and Kaye and two
brothers, James and John.

She played basketball at Loyal High School where she also graduated in the Class of
1947. She loved to tell the story of her Senior Trip, where she and her classmates rode in the
back of a 2 ton truck surrounded by hay bales to Carlsbad Caverns. She was very active in her
class, organizing and attending all the reunions.

Mona worked at the Kingfisher County Courthouse in her early years. She soon met the
absolute love of her life, James R Uhlenhake and married on July 18, 1952. Together in Norman
they built their home on Homeland, raised 3 wonderful boys; Max, Chris and Jon and a few
years later came along their darling daughter Rita Ann. Mona and Jim were married 29 years
until his passing in 1981. She was so proud to be a Colonel's wife and mother to 4 amazing
children. Mona loved gardening and sharing all her vegetables with her family and neighbors,
especially Eileen Lovasz. When she wasn’t gardening there was a good chance she was
sewing, she loved to sew and was an excellent seamstress. She made all her kids down vests,
made numerous dresses and the occasional boot or shotgun case.

Her pride and joy was having all of her family at her home for birthdays and holidays.
She loved to cook for everyone, making sure they all had leftovers to take home.
Mona learned to hunt and fish right alongside the boys and even entered a few Clay
Shooting Tournaments, winning awards for being a good shot!

She was blessed with 5 Grandchildren; Gina, James, Kelly, Amanda and Scott. The kids
spent many weekends with her where they would play in the backyard, go to the movies, and
find great bargains at a garage sale. They seldom missed the Norman Pancake Breakfast and
Christmas Parade.

The love and laughter of 11 Great Grandchildren soon filled the house and holidays on
Homeland. Macy, Jenna, Owen, Tate, Bailey, Hannah, Kory, Devyn, Ainsley, Andi and Ryan.
Everyone that knew Mona loved her kind and giving spirit. She was one of a kind! She
was funny, a little ornery and always appreciative of anyone who came to visit her. She is the
epitome of the word Matriarch in the Uhlenhake family; whatever she said, they did. Whatever
she asked, they answered. Whenever she called, they were there. Her family loves and adores
her and will miss her beyond measure.
