Rebecca 'Becky' Elaine Buchanan Archey

Rebecca Elaine Archey, 61, of Ballinger, Texas, and then Norman, Oklahoma, passed away surrounded by her husband, Brian, and daughters, Jamie and Caitlin, on Thursday June 1, 2023.  Becky was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas, to Jerrie and Wayne Buchanan on October 5, 1961.  She married Brian Archey October 6, 1984, in Dallas, Texas, in the pouring rain.

Becky worked for James K. Anderson Inc. for the better part of three decades.  As this was an oil and gas concern, she worked through the highs and lows of the “Tales of a Struggling Wildcatter.”  Becky and Brian moved to Ballinger, Texas, in 1985, where they started their family late that same year.  Both worked for JKA, Inc, at that time, and working for James K. allowed Becky to be an active participant in their daughter’s lives.  She was always helping at the kids’ school and helping her friends around town.  After many years in Ballinger, Becky and Brian moved to Norman, Oklahoma, in 2008, to be closer to her mother who lived in Norman, and daughters who also lived in Oklahoma.

Becky continued to work for James K. Anderson, Inc. after moving to Norman.  She helped with her aging mother and step father as well.  Becky loved to know everybody’s business just in case she could help them in some way.  People always knew where they stood with Becky.  From the moment she met you and every time she said goodbye, you knew.

Becky was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother.  Becky was always very protective of her family and friends, and smothering them in her love.  Becky was a passionate woman her entire life.

Becky was preceded in death by her mother, Jerrie Anderson and stepfather, James K. Anderson; and her mother-in-law, Donna Warnsing.  She is survived by her beloved husband, Brian Archey; father, Wayne Buchanan and wife Sammye; children, Jamie Roye and husband Ross, Caitlin Blair and husband Kasey; grandchildren, Declan and Rearden Roye, and Emma Blair; brothers, Allen Buchanan, Mike Buchanan and wife Dawn, and Don Buchanan and wife Debbie; step siblings, Judi Anderson Guetens and husband Ed, Melanie Anderson, and James R. Anderson and wife Mary; as well as many nieces and nephews.
