Major Robert John Seaton (Retired), 77, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2017. Bob was born on January 18, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan to John and Florence (Menard) Seaton.

Bob has 12 years of Catholic education at Gesu Elementary and Detroit Catholic Central High. He earned his Bachelors degree from University of Detroit and Masters of Business from University of Arkansas. Bob entered the U.S. Air Force from ROTC after graduation in 1963 at March AFB, California. This was followed by assignments to Wurtsmith AFB, Michigan; Ben Hoa AB, Vietnam; Tahkli AB, Thailand; Nellis AFB, Nevada; European Air Force Headquarters in Wiesbaden and then Ramstein AB, Germany. There he met his wife Ottilie also assigned in Wiesbaden Air Force Hospital. Next, he was stationed at Maxwell AFB, Alabama, Scott AFB, Illinois where he retired in 1983. The family then returned Wiesbaden, Germany and Scott AFB, Illinois until Ottilie retired. The family then moved to Richmond, VA and finally to Norman, Oklahoma where Bob spent the last 23 years.

Bob recently attended St. Eugene Catholic Church in Edmond, Oklahoma and formerly St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Norman, Oklahoma where he was a founding member of St. Mark’s Men’s Club. He has been a long time member of the Knights of Columbus. Bob was a well-known volunteer including 57 years as a Boy Scout and leader, and very proud to be an Eagle Scout. In addition, he served as a tax preparer in the Senior Center and a member of the Norman Moose Lodge and Norman Disabled Veterans Club.

He is survived by daughter Catherine (Andrew) Oster, grandchildren Elizabeth and Christian Oster, son John (Sarah) Seaton, sister Patricia (John) Higgins, Janet Morgan, Mary Jo (Charles) Delbeke, and Kathy (Mark) Payette. He is preceded in death by his wife Colonel Ottilie Seaton (Retired) and parents John and Florence Seaton.

Visitation will be from 11 AM – 6 PM, Friday, March 10th at Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook Street in Norman. A Prayer Vigil Service will begin at 6 PM in the Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 AM, Saturday, March 11th at St. Mark The Evangelist Catholic Church, 3939 W. Tecumseh Road in Norman.

Memorials may be made in memory of Bob to The Boy Scouts of America or charity of your choice.
