Rodney Wayne Brown

August 14, 1965 ~ September 4, 2021 (age 56) 56 Years Old

Tribute

Rodney Wayne Brown, age 56, of Blanchard, Oklahoma, passed away after a hard-fought battle with Covid-19 on September 4, 2021.  He was born August 14, 1965, in Pampa, Texas,  the only child of  Elmer and Lavona Brown (McCall).

Rodney grew up in Purcell, Oklahoma, and was a 1983 graduate of Purcell High School.  In 1988, he began working for Petroleum Marketers where he was a loyal employee for 33 years.  He was a service technician and later a service manager.  He spent most of his life working on gas pumps.  He knew them like the back of his hand and would work on them in his sleep.  He sacrificed a lot over the years to always make sure his job was done and done right no matter how long the job took, but he wouldn’t have had it any other way.

In 1993, Rodney married the love of his life, Pamela Scarberry, and raised their three children: daughter, Lindsay; and twin boys, Nicholas and Jordan (Joe).

Growing up Rodney would spend his summers in Colorado fishing the Taylor river, and he continued to spend many vacations in Colorado over the years.  Rodney was never much of a water guy, but when one of his boys begged him for a boat he bought a boat.  Little did he know that would be just the beginning of his love for boats and later sailboats.  Rodney, his wife and their dog, Chelsea, spent many years sailing with friends on Lake Eufaula on their sailboat “Escape”.  He could never get enough of it and was beginning to make plans to retire and spend the rest of his life sailing and exploring.  Rodney loved nature and animals with a passion.  His heart was gold.

If you knew Rodney you knew he was a loyal and honest, he was really “one of the good ones”.  His love for his family never went unnoticed.  Everything he did he did for his family; nothing was too big for him.  He could fix anything.

Rodney is survived by his wife, Pam; daughter, Lindsay Brown and Kevin Barry; son, Joe Brown & Nitasha Knepper; son, Nick and wife Tracy Brown; grandchildren, Kellie, Braelyn, Lilly, Kolton, Brooklyn, Kambree and Finnick; brother-in-law, Steve Scarberry; uncle, Dr Jerry McCall; special friends, Danny and Vicki Hargove, Leroy Nito and Nick Schwab; his yorkie, Chelsea; and a host of cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Lavona Brown; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Calvin & Jannette Scarberry.
