Roy Robert ‘Bobby’ Gann, Jr., age79, of Norman, passed away March 19, 2022. He was born October 8, 1942, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, to the late Roy Robert Gann, Sr. and Mary Rose Bighorse Gann. He was a proud member of the Osage Nation.
Bobby graduated from Pawhuska High School, attended OSU and the University of New Mexico, and graduated with a law degree from the OU School of Law. After graduation, he was recruited as the Commissioner of Indian Affairs for the state of Oklahoma, a position he held for 20 years. After retiring as Commissioner, he worked with many tribes on their constitutions. Bobby later opened his own company, Tribal Government Institute, which worked on contracts between tribes and the Department of Defense. He ran this company for 32 years, until his death.
Bobby was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching sporting events, especially football and basketball.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 34 years, Mary Margaret Gann; three sons, Gary Don Gann, Clay Gann, and Brandon Meyer and his wife Apryl; brother, Tom Gann; sister, Sherri Gann; four grandchildren, Alani Gann, Reese Meyer, Kane Meyer and Aly Meyer; and several nieces.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Gann.
