Roy Lee Harkey

Roy Lee Harkey, age 74, died at Autumn Leaves Memory Care in Oklahoma City, on September 6, 2021, after a long illness.  At his request, no service will be held.

Roy was born December 7, 1946, to John Paul and Lucille Harkey in Oklahoma City.  He attended Norman High School and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Business.

After college, he joined the Army Reserves and later served in the Oklahoma National Guard.  While attending OU, he met and married Chaniece Kennedy.  They had a son, Steven, and later divorced.  Roy married Geraldine Burchett in 2002, and they divorced in 2020.

Roy started his business career as a Sales Representative for Apco Oil Company.  He worked for Panasonic, Sony Corporation as President of the American operation.  He had his first CD unit in America long before we knew about them.  Roy went to Clarion in the top management and later worked for Tenna Corporation in Portland.  Then he followed his dreams to be a full time musician.  He put together a music catalog of over 500 songs to entertain any size crowd with his guitar and voice.  He played over 100 paid gigs around north Texas.

He is survived by his son, Steve of Hawaii; his sister, Cheryl Nordstrom of Phoenix, Arizona; his brother John and his wife Patricia of Norman, Oklahoma; and his nieces, Ginger Williams of Wichita, Kansas, and Jessica Chorney of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
