Virginia Lee Holmes, age 88, of Norman, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022. She was born December 27, 1933, in Delano, California, to the late Harold and Hazel Fuqua. Virginia was very involved in her Church, Norman First Assembly of God, where she played piano. She worked with her husband at Jim Holmes Insurance Agency for 40 years.
Virginia was a wonderful wife and mother who had cookies waiting for her children when they returned from school. Her favorite times were those spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and her husband loved to travel and took many trips all over the country in the motorhome with their grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 71 years, Jim Holmes; three daughters, Brenda Parker, Sharon Hanks and husband Don, Susan Vaughn and husband Tony; one son, Gregg Holmes and wife Leslie; twelve grandchildren, Erica Mansell and husband Matt, Jonathan Parker, Nick Hanks, Matt Hanks, Natalie Hanks and Clint Bowen, Dusty Barnard and wife Julie, Sawyer Barnard and wife Megan, Aubrie Turner and husband Tony, Katie Fanning and husband Max, Bryce Holmes, Seth Holmes and Karsten Holmes; two step grandchildren, Jill Vaughn, Josh Vaughn and their families; and twelve great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Alnita Cypert; two brothers, Harold Don Fuqua and Bill Day; and son-in-law, Eric Parker.
