William 'Bill' L. Stout

Tribute

 

William ‘Bill’ L. Stout, age 90, of Noble, passed away May 9, 2022, at the Norman Veterans Center.  He was born October 31, 1931, in El Reno, Oklahoma, to the late Roy Bert Stout and Magdalena Johanna Faerber Stout.  A veteran of the U.S. Army, Bill served from 1953-1955.  He graduated from Waldron High School, received his undergraduate degree from East Central University, and obtained his Masters degree from Oklahoma State University in 1962.  He was a teacher at Pratt Junior College until 1976, and he then began teaching history and English at Ringling High School and retired in 1994.

 

Bill was a Salvation Army volunteer, was active in the Gideons, and played tennis, but his favorite hobby was square dancing.  He started dancing in1988, with the Southern Circle Square dance club in Ardmore.  When he moved to Norman, he danced with the Buckaroo’s and was a current member of the Norman Silver Spur Square Dance Club for the last thirteen years.  He also held many club and district offices in both the Southern and Central Districts of Oklahoma.  Bill met his wife, Joyce, while square dancing, and they were married on September 11, 2010.

 

He is survived by his wife Joyce, of the home; son, Byron Stout and his wife Kim of Little Silver, NJ; daughter, Amy Laizure of Norman; and grandchildren, Thomas Stout and Kendall Stout of Little Silver, NJ, and Huck Laizure and Rhett Laizure of Norman; Stepson, Ronnie Littlecreek of Norman, and Step- grandchild Dylan Jones of Noble. 

 

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his siblings, Evelyn Stout, Orville Gholston and Clarris Gholston.
