Wilma Lee Pettijohn

Wilma Lee McKinney Pettijohn, age 84, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at her home.  She was born November 13, 1938, in Wewoka, Oklahoma, to the late Vernon and Obelia McKinney. 

Wilma married the love of her life, Anthony Lewis Pettijohn, in 1958, and the couple began their life together in Norman.  In 1969, they moved to Olathe, Kansas, where they raised their family and resided for almost 50 years, until returning to Norman in 2018.

Wilma was an avid reader which lead to her career as an elementary school librarian.  She graduated as valedictorian of the first graduating class (1972) of MidAmerica Nazarene College in Olathe, Kansas. 

Wilma also enjoyed traveling with her husband.  Their favorite times were those spent with family.

Wilma is survived by her husband of 64 years, Anthony ‘Andy’ Lewis Pettijohn; daughter, Linda Lee Pettijohn; grandson, Dylan Anthony Smith; great grandson, Alexander ‘Lex’ James Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Dianne Pettijohn Smith; two granddaughters, Shawna Leigh Pettijohn and Kaylie Kathleen Smith; great granddaughter, Lana Leigh Bailey; brother, Vernon ‘Jack’ Leonard McKinney; and two sisters, Marian Lucille Bethel and Patricia Ann Gill.
