I offer my deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Carl Mahan, I know that I will never know exactly how you feel or what you are going through but I would like to share with you what brings me comfort in hopes that you will find comfort as well. There are so many things that can bring us down and discourage us, but Jehovah God wants to bring us comfort despite the sheer lack of it in our lives. We see proof of this in 2 Corinthians 1:3, 4 which says "Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God." God has both the power and desire to give us comfort, and one comforting thought is found in Isaiah 25:8 which says "He will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces... For Jehovah himself has spoken it." Jehovah God himself promises that one day in the future he will bring back our loved ones to a life of perfect health and happiness on a paradise earth, where all our suffering will be gone forever.

We are saddened to learn that you’re mourning the loss of your dear love one. However, it saddens our God even more. No doubt, you have many fond memories which will resurface from time to time. And because you do have memories, certainly shows that almighty God has memories as well. Therefore, with full confidence you can take comfort in knowing that he longs to restore perfect life to all those in his memory (Job ‪14:13-15‬; Rev 21:3, 4). Please accept our condolences at this most distressing time.
